We have had a wonderful time this week for STEM week! We started the week learning about how to construct a building made from junk and the children were all very excited to make their landmark in London. Throughout the rest of the week we have done other activities such as programming your teacher to make a jam sandwich, a melting ice experiment, using robots to paint a picture and learning how to work as a team to construct towers out of marshmallows and spaghetti. We would like to say a huge thank you to all of the volunteers and support parents have given this week with providing junk materials and aprons. All of your support has made this week very special for the children and we hope that it has allowed the children to see the vast amount of opportunities there are within STEM. 

This week in English the children have been writing about Paddington and have written some lovely instructions. We focused on using imperative verbs such as ‘put’, ‘turn’ and ‘pour’. Next week, we will be reading Katie Morag and will be writing stories using picture story maps.

In maths, we have been learning about mass and have used balance scales to measure different objects. We will be learning about volume and capacity next week to finish off our measurement unit.

In our topic, we will continue to learn about the United Kingdom and will be focusing on England for the whole week. We will be talking about the English flag, national food, landmarks and the national flower.
