The children have been really calm and settled this week. They have been working hard in all lessons.

We have started learning about Market Harborough in our topic lessons. We will be finding out about where our town is, what buildings we have and what we use them for, the name of the river and our biggest park. We will also start learning about the history of our market next week.

It was lovely to welcome the children back after half term.

The children have had a lovely week learning all about the book ‘Molly’s Jolly Brolly’. We have done some descriptive writing about Molly’s adventures, designed our very own umbrellas and also made some wax resist paintings. Next week, we will continue this story and will begin to teach the children about adjectives and nouns. In school we are encouraging children to recognise when to use a capital letter and full stop. It would be wonderful if this could be encouraged at home also.

The children have been busy learning this week about how to subtract numbers up to 10 e.g. 7-3 or 10-9. The children have used multi-link cubes to help them see the number sentence visually.
