Ofsted: Good

Meadowdale Primary School celebrates GOOD Ofsted report

Speaking of the outcome, Liz Martin, Head Teacher at Meadowdale said, “Having Ofsted visit is always a nerve-wracking time for any school, but we are delighted that the inspector could see how hard all our staff work in delivering the very best education for our pupils. Her praise and positive comments about our curriculum, Early Years provision, how we teach phonics and the resources we have, not to mention the relationship we have with our pupils and families, just highlights how committed everyone at school is to ensuring the very best future for our children.

“We not only believe in ensuring every pupil reaches their full potential academically, and but we want to give them access to brilliant enrichment opportunities and links to their community so they develop wonderful characters, full of confidence, resilience and a curiosity about the world around them.”

The Ofsted inspector was with the school for two full days in March and during that time looked into every aspect of school life – from how the curriculum is built and delivered to how well supported the children feel academically and emotionally.

The report highlighted the following:

  • Meadowdale Primary School is a welcoming and ambitious school. Staff have high

expectations. As a result, pupils, including those who are disadvantaged, achieve well. The school’s aim for ‘every child to have the opportunity to flourish’ is evident both in and out of the classroom.

  • Pupils feel happy, safe and well cared for. Relationships between staff and pupils are warm and nurturing.

  • Pupils support each other. They work together with mutual cooperation and respect. They are eager to do their best and are proud of their achievements.

  • Children get off to a positive start in the Reception Year. The provision is well resourced. Children have the opportunity to learn through play, and they explore and take risks. Children show high levels of independence and are prepared well for key stage 1. Children are excited about their learning.

Continuing, Liz said, “We are incredibly proud of our school and every child who attends. Their enthusiasm for learning and ‘can do’ attitude makes teaching them a pleasure. We would like to extend our thanks to each and every pupil for making our jobs so fun and rewarding – without them we would not have achieved such a positive outcome from Ofsted. We know families will have recently received their primary school offer place for September 2024, but if any family is still looking for the right school for their child, or has recently moved to the area, we’d be delighted to show them around Meadowdale and welcome them into our school family.”
