Meadowdale Primary School

PSHE Curriculum and Relationships Education

Our PSHE curriculum is created from the Cambridgeshire Primary Personal Development Programme. This scheme was chosen because it ensures our children receive PSHE lessons that are relevant and purposeful. It gives children skills across a range of areas including emotional, health and communication. They will also have an in-depth knowledge of relationships, health, their bodies, their community and how to stay safe.

The relationships and sex education aspect of the curriculum was introduced following consultation with children, parents, children and stakeholders to ensure it meets Government requirements and our children’s needs. The curriculum covers all areas, which are:

  • Me and My Relationships
  • Citizenship
  • Healthier and Safer Lifestyles.

The school’s Sex and Relationships Education Policy document is available for parents to read below.  Parents can ask for their child not to take part in the non-statutory content of the curriculum.

Advice for talking to children about RSE

We have carefully reviewed the resources we use to support our teaching, to ensure they are appropriate to the age and needs of the children but please watch the clips or read the information first to ensure it is appropriate for your child.

To read the government guidance for Primary parents/carers on RSE, follow this link:
